In 1952 Russian Respiratory Professor
Konstantin Buteyko discovered that the primary cause of asthma and
other related diseases of civilisation was incorrect breathing or
what he termed as hidden hyperventilation.
Hidden hyperventilation is breathing in excess of normal recommended
level as determined by medical doctrine. This is often undiagnosed,
yet breathing volume may be two to three times greater than normal
requirements.
For people genetically predisposed to developing asthma, airways
and air sacs go into spasm, mucus and phlegm develop and the bronchial
tubes swell due to the loss of carbon dioxide, and drying and dehydration
of the airway walls.
By correcting over breathing with simple breathing exercises and
small lifestyle changes, asthma symptoms will greatly reduce or
will cease altogether. Asthma Care clinics provide noticeable results
in as little as two weeks. To date it is the most
effective natural proven therapy for asthma in the world. See results from scientific trials
How do you recognise if your child overbreathes?
Does your child do any of the following;
Mouth breathe regularly, sigh, yawn with large breaths, breathe
loudly, take large breaths prior to talking etc.
How do I know whether this works?
Here is a very simple and effective exercise for unblocking the
nose - taken from the children's book ABC to be Asthma Free:
"Then Argo the wizard appears. He whispers into David's ear the
secret of how to unblock the nose.
You can try this too;
Sit down Take a small breath in through your nose. This breath should
make no noise.
Breathe out through your nose.
Then hold your nose with your fingers so that the air cannot come
in or go out.
Gently nod your head up and down.
Do this for as long as you can.
When you need to breathe in - breathe in through your nose only
- try not to let the air sneak in through your mouth. Calm your
breathing as quickly as possible.
Wait about half a minute and practice this again. Your nose will
be unblocked by the third attempt. If it is not; practice the exercise
until the nose is unblocked.
If the nose gets blocked again; practise the exercise again."
